About ron gilcreast

Ron began playing piano at the age of 9, when his grandfather gave his family the piano that had belonged to his grandmother, on the condition that Ron learn how to play it. Several years of piano lessons followed, and Ron developed a kinship with the instrument that persists to this day.

As a young adult, Ron continued following his passion with several Bay Area bands, but it wasn't until 1994 that Ron decided to make music his career, and ventured to Hollywood to study at the prestigious Musician's Institute of Technology. An intensive year of instruction and practice followed, and in 1995 Ron graduated from MI's keyboard school with Honors, one of the top students in his class. Ron also earned a special judge's mention in MI's 'Battle of the Bands' competition as the student with the 'Best Publishing Potential' for his songwriting abilities.

After graduating from MI, Ron spent a short stint in the lounges of Las Vegas, but after a year he returned to the Bay Area to be closer to his family. In the years since he has played with several Bay Area bands, most recently a 4-1/2 year stint with The Cheeseballs.
